Luke 2:22 And after the days of her purification, according to the law of Moses, were accomplished, they carried him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord.
This is a difficult one to wrap my head around, so I naturally need inspiration. I turn to Fr. Benedict Groeschel's book "The Rosary: Chain of Hope" for some help.
The Presentation was an act of humility on the part of our Lord and his family. Following the Jewish custom at the proper time Jesus was brought to the temple by his parents. From this we learn our place and that we are always disposed to follow the God's earthly authority as he did. Because we think we are smarter or somehow much more holy that our priests and bishops does not give us the right set ourselves up as mini-popes. Clearly it is illustrated that not all of the priests or Pharisees of Christ's time weren't all that holy, but he submitted to them just the same.
