Today I received my copy (from eBay, no less) of “A Commentary on the New Testament”, prepared by The Catholic Biblical Association under the patronage of the Episcopal Committee of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, published in 1942. Whew, what a mouthful eh? Anyway, this is the commentary prepared for, you guessed it, my favorite version of Holy Scripture, the 1941 Confraternity edition. I even read somewhere that this was meant to be its “companion”. Sad you don’t see it around anywhere to purchase new though. Its 728 pages in length and much of the commentary appears to be pretty extensive. Looking at a few key verses it seems to be a mix of historical and pastoral commentary, with emphasis on the former.
For an old book I got this one in great condition, barely used even. Price: $5.50 on eBay. Nice!
