New Bishop for NEPA

I can't let the day go by without acknowledging the big news in the area today. We have a new bishop here in the Diocese of Scranton, Msgr. Joseph Bambera. I want to add my voice to those who are congratulating him and praying for a successful tenure as our shepherd.

A new bishop brings excitement and anxiety. We are happy to have a bishop and hope he does well but at the same time a little anxious about some things.

Will he be a strong defender of Catholic tradition? Will he be a strong moral advocate like his predecessor? Will the teachers "unions" be placated? How will he handle the local Catholic colleges? Will he help us to become saints?

Only time will tell, but we must pray for him that God will make him a strong shepherd for this ailing flock.
